The current version of the Lenze EASY Starter contains the Lenze OPC UA Server, which makes it possible to access Lenze devices regardless of the type of software used. The basis for this is OPC Unified Architecture (OPC UA), an up-to-date standard from the OPC Foundation.

The open platform means that the parameters of Lenze devices can be read and written with software from another supplier. Another benefit for customers is that OPC UA allows safe remote maintenance for Lenze devices by means of a standardised protocol with encrypted communication.

The Lenze OPC UA Server makes it possible to access all the Lenze devices and communication links than can be used in Lenze’s EASY Starter engineering tool. The new Lenze server uses the current OPC UA standard as a basis and replaces the previous Lenze “Drive Server”. The software that customers intend to use in order to access Lenze devices with OPC UA must act as an OPC UA client and can use any operating system. The new server function is available for customers when the Lenze EASY Starter is installed together with the “EASY Advanced” licence on the OPC UA Server page. Thanks to numerous security mechanisms, such as authentication, authorisation, encryption and data integrity through signatures, the new interface can be used for remote maintenance even over insecure networks.
