The reisPAD sets new standards in programming and operation of robots. The new control generation consists of ROBOTstar-VI and the reisPAD, a portable teach pendant in tablet format doing without mechanical and electrical operating elements. A scratch-resistant, yet sensitive 10,4″ Multi-Touch display, low weight, BalancedUse for right or left hand operation, haptic elements at the edge of the screen, and sharePAD for use at any number of robots, are further advantages of the reisPAD.

The reisPAD holds a special position in robotics. For the first time, there are no more electro-mechanical operating elements, except for the emergency-off and permission key. Thus the system is almost maintenance-free and extremely reliable.

“With the reisPAD we introduce an innovation in the field robot programming and operation which resides on an individually configurable user interface”, says Franz Som, Manager of Control Development at Reis. “We combined the Look & Feel of a tablet computer with a practical operating structure including gesture control. The control allows integration of Macros or Icons and operating commands generated by the customer himself. All permanently required operating elements are placed in the edge area of the display surface in the form of a ‘C-Frame’ on three sides of the screen. Haptic marks on the edge of the case (edges, corners, finger grooves, nipples) allow to find the positions of those operating elements with one’s eyes closed. That means: The programmer can concentrate on the robot and the robot tool. Thus the reisPAD becomes the fastest tool for the teach-in procedure – even for batch size 1.”

The remaining space of the pad display next to the C-frame is available for specific applications. Reis limited the operating hierarchy to maximum two levels so that the user always keeps the context and does not get lost in submenus. A home softkey in the upper left corner allows the central return from every situation. The stop softkey in the lower left consequently can always be reached without looking due to the tactile guiding at the corner of the display.
