Many companies working within oil and gas and other heavy industries face the challenge of integrating motor control centers into existing distributed control systems (DCS) that use Modbus TCP as the communication protocol. Often, because the DCS does not support EtherNet/IP, additional hardware and integration effort is needed to complete the system.

A new communication module developed by Rockwell Automation and Encompass Partner HMS Networks addresses this challenge by improving CENTERLINE 2100 and CENTERLINE 2500 motor control center integration onto Modbus TCP networks. The module provides a complete integration solution, acting as a native device on Modbus TCP/IP control systems. It helps reduce hardware costs and integration effort by serving as the single integration product for all the smart devices with a MCC.

In addition to helping to alleviate startup efforts and costs, the Modbus TCP communication module also makes maintenance easier. Once integrated into the control system, users have access to power, energy and maintenance data to make informed decisions about their equipment.
