More flexible and safer: For use in gantries, in handling or also in palletising systems, the SC axis from Rollon has undergone a comprehensive redesign. The vertical axis in three sizes has been perfected both optically and technically.Rollon is systematically revising the Plus series of its Actuator Line: Following the ELM and ROBOT series, the linear technology specialist has also further developed its vertical axis.In addition to adapting the optical design across the series, the technical details in particular have been revised. The SC axis is available in 100, 130 and 160 mm and has been specially designed for vertical movements in applications that require a fixed drive head while the aluminium profile remains movable. Big advantage: the redesigned drive head allows the gearbox to be mounted on both sides.

The connection plate at the end of the aluminium profile has now been designed to allow easy and quick changing of accessories. This not only reduces downtime and increases the productivity of the system, it also allows the unit to be extended independently of the stroke. The extension is quick to assemble and can be centred easily and precisely on the connecting plate. A continuous hollow profile also facilitates the feed-through and protection of the cables. The optional installation of pneumatic clamping elements as a drop guard provides safety.

Powerful yet flexible

The SC-axis is a sophisticated combination of a self-supporting extruded and anodised aluminium profile and two parallel recirculating ball bearing slides with four low-maintenance carriages, which makes it particularly suitable for heavy loads and applications with high cycle rates. In addition, it is ideal for multi-axis systems due to its compatibility with the drives of the ROBOT series.

Like all linear actuators in the Plus System series, the new SC axis is available with stainless steel elements for harsh environments or frequent washing operations. Basically, the linear units are made of corrosion-resistant 6060 and 6082 aluminium, bearings, linear rails, screws and nuts as well as components are made of low-carbon steel AISI 303 and 404C.

Rollon’s evolution of the Plus series offers users many exciting opportunities to simplify their engineering designs, improve performance as well as reduce application costs. The further development of the SC-axis is part of the technological and visual redesign of the Rollon product portfolio.
