Rollon: New traversing axes for small robots

With the Seventh Axis product series, Rollon offers the most sophisticated portfolio of modular travelling axes made of aluminium. Now the specialist for linear motion systems has expanded its range with two more sizes in the lower segment.

Small robots and cobots are in vogue. However, due to their small size, they only have a very short reach. If a larger working range is required – for example, in order to be able to carry out different tasks at several locations – the action radius must be increased by means of a 7th axis.

Rollon makes robots mobile

Already now, Rollon offers the most refined portfolio for small and medium payloads on the market in the area of the 7th axis. With the two additional sizes, the linear technology specialist is meeting the increasing demand for travelling axes in the lower load range and is expanding its range of toothed belt axes to a total of five sizes. Together with the six sizes with rack and pinion drive, a total of eleven sizes are now available. This diversity of variants enables very precise dimensioning of the axis and thus significantly reduces costs for the user.

Moving small loads with great efficiency

The new sizes 120 and 160 are designed for robots with payloads of 3-6 kg. The extruded aluminium profiles are characterised by high rigidity, load-bearing capacity, precision and reliability – all in a particularly compact design. They offer a repeat accuracy of ±0.05 mm and achieve travel speeds of 2 m/s and accelerations of 4 m/s2. The maximum stroke is 6,000 mm. The modular mechanical system includes all necessary components as well as extensive accessories and is suitable for wall mounting, floor mounting and ceiling installation.

Flexibility meets economy

Whether tool feeding, machine loading or assembly automation: the new Rollon travel axes with toothed belt drive open up interesting possibilities for users to use their robots and cobots even more efficiently and flexibly. Basically, the greater the reach required for the process, the more the user saves through the combination of robot and linear axis compared to two or more individual robots.
