Safe guidance of data, energy, liquids and air with micro flizz® by igus

Guiding energy, data and media in the tightest of spaces at high speeds is a major challenge for many users, e.g. in intralogistics. With the micro flizz igus offers a compact energy guidance system for travel distances of up to 100 meters. It consists of an energy chain, flexible chainflex cables for tight bending radii and an aluminum guide channel. The micro flizz can now also be used with the new smart CF.D system. This monitors the data transfer characteristics of the line proactively and warns before a failure occurs.

Narrow, compact spaces and fast lanes, e.g. of stacker cranes, are common application scenarios for busbars. Their big disadvantage: they can only be used by default for energy transfer. In order to be able to carry not only energy but also data, liquids and air simultaneously in the horizontal and vertical, igus has developed the micro flizz energy management system. With this travel speeds up to 6 m / s and accelerations up to 4 m / s2 are possible. The micro flizz consists of a plastic energy chain that moves in a channel of aluminum. In addition to highly flexible chainflex control, data and motor cables for tight bending radii, the energy chain can carry hoses as well as optical fibers with data rates of up to 10 Gb / s. Thanks to extensive testing in our own 2,750 square meter test laboratory, igus guarantees a service life of 36 months on all chainflex cables. If the user wants to monitor the transmission characteristics of his bus line used, igus now offers the option of using the intelligent CF.D system in the micro flizz. The smart plastics innovation recognizes changes to the transmission characteristics of the line in advance and provides timely information about a necessary exchange. Thus maintenance is planned ahead and an unexpected shutdown is avoided.

Modular and easy to clean system

The main advantage of the micro flizz, in addition to the optional intelligent monitoring, is its special construction: integrated “side wings” hold the energy chain in the stretched state at any time safely in a special groove in the upper and lower part of the channel. Together with plastic springs on the webs of the e-chain, they ensure a quit and smooth rolling. As a result, friction, wear, energy consumption and noise are significantly reduced. Another advantage: Thanks to its modular design, the system is easily accessible and therefore easy to clean. Therefore, the micro flizz system can also be used in the field of pharmacy and food production. The energy chain system is available depending on the diameter of the cables in three different sizes.
