TM Robotics, partnered with Toshiba Machine, displayed three of Toshiba Machine’s lightweight robots at this year’s Motek International Trade Fair for Production and Assembly Automation – otherwise known as Motek at Messe Stuttgart, Germany. The Toshiba Machine robots on display this year demonstrate a variety of features and functionalities designed to give companies a way to speed and optimize the production of high-quality products.

With the rigorous adoption of robots in automotive plants and their Tier-One suppliers, TM Robotics continues to extend the market share of Toshiba Machine robots to automate manufacturing processes. At this year’s show, TM Robotics demonstrated its Toshiba Machine robots at the booth of Swiss partner Elmotec Antriebstechnik Automation.

The first robot, aTHP700 SCARA, shows handling a wide range of items with diverse shapes, materials and weights with a single end-effector. A high-spec, high-demand 4-axis robot capable of running with full accuracy at full speed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the THP700 can handle mixed products of different weights and forms, often requiring multi-part grippers or tool-changers. Toshiba Machine manages the diverse tasks using one VERSABALL gripper from Empire Robotics to demonstrate the robot’s ability to reliably pick and place a variety of products with a single head.

The second robot on display, a TVL500 6-axis, picks, weighs, and palletizes medical containers. With its clean lines and 500-mm reach, the TVL500 is part of the lightweight, cost-sensitive series, which includes Toshiba Machine’s THL family of lightweight SCARAs. This series also saves on power through its efficient, lighter-weight design that reduces power consumption, while maintaining Toshiba Machine’s market-leading speed and accuracy.

The last demonstration featured at this year’s Motek includes a fully automated soldering system featuring the Toshiba Machine TH450A SCARA. The TH450A accurately moves a soldering head into position with both accuracy and repeatability. The solution, made by Elmotec Antriebstechnik Automation, solders single pins on a variety of printed circuit boards, along with performing other applications such as battery cable crimping, copper cable soldering, and automotive cable soldering.

“We look forward to Motek every year,” said Nigel Smith, CEO of TM Robotics. “It’s a show with great energy, exciting displays, and a terrific opportunity to show what’s new and interesting in the Toshiba Machine line. Our 2015 Motek display gives attendees an in-depth view into additional automation they can accomplish, along with a first-hand opportunity to see how easy-to-use and efficient these robots truly are.”
