When energy demand leads the way

A biogas plant near Krefeld, Germany, adjusts its daily substrate feed between 35 and 80 tonnes to align gas production with changing energy demand. SUMA’s central mixer Z-MIX ensures reliable mixing and stable plant operation despite these considerable fluctuations.

This demand-driven approach provides a promising business model as existing EEG feed-in tariffs come to an end. Instead of continuously generating electricity and heat, the plant adapts production to market demand, while a gas storage facility balances short-term fluctuations.

Key facts about the biogas plant:

  • Tank volume: 4.489 m³
  • Substrate: Slurry, manure, vegetable cultivation waste
  • Input: daily 35 and 80 tonnes
  • DM Content: 8 – 10 %
  • Installed agitators: SUMA Central mixer Z-MIX
  • CFD simulation-based design
