KNOLL LubiCool®-S – the smart high-pressure supplier

With the LubiCool®-S, KNOLL Maschinenbau rounds off its retrofittable high-pressure unit family at the bottom. The “S” variant – as in small and smart – is so compact that it can be placed under the bar feeder on short and sliding headstock automatic lathes. With a pressure range of up to 90 bar, it is suitable for demanding machining operations with difficult materials.

The KNOLL LubiCool®-S high-pressure unit is conspicuously characterised by its compact design. With a height of only 663 mm, a depth of 635 mm and a length of 985 mm, it fits under common bar feeders. This makes it ideal for all machinists with short and long automatic lathes who suffer from a lack of space.

However, the LubiCool®-S shows greatness in its functions: The proven KNOLL screw spindle pump KTS generates a high pressure of up to 90 bar, which causes chips to break short and enables higher cutting speeds, which are reflected in shorter machining times. In addition, the service life of the tools is increased. The wear resistance of the KTS results in long service lives (up to six times longer than comparable pumps) and very high process reliability.

With a filter fineness of up to 15 µm, the filter element of the LubiCool®-S ensures that even the smallest chips, fine particles and foreign matter are separated from the coolant. In contrast to other filter cartridges known on the market, the filter element of the LubiCool®-S convinces with its long service life. In addition, it is inexpensive and particularly user-friendly in terms of replacement and cleaning.

A highlight of the entire LubiCool® series is the completely uncomplicated, intuitive operation. For this purpose, KNOLL developed the new “SmartConnect” control concept, which includes a small touch display that allows the user to set the desired pressure level and other parameters. It can also be used to call up information from sensors and actuators. An LED light strip positioned on the outside of the housing visualises the most important system operating data in eight colours.

LubiCool®-S is a standard product with a top price-performance ratio and short delivery times. Thanks to its modular design, however, the high-pressure unit can be equipped with additional options. These include up to eight switchable outputs, a frequency converter for the high-pressure pump, a temperature sensor, a plate heat exchanger for coolant cooling, a hose package and a pressure reducer for spindle flushing.

Thanks to its plug-and-play system, the LubiCool®-S can be installed in just 30 minutes. Thanks to the standard interface, it can be connected to all metal-cutting machine tools. Retrofitting is also possible without complications.
